Grovetown School - Project Pedal Power Model: Benefits for the School: The Principal's perspective
Benefits for the School: The Principal's perspective
Grovetown School Principal Selena Tonks is delighted with the impact the project has had on her school.
“We use the track in a variety of ways,” she says. “The pupils now have free access to the course during breaks and use it with parents as part of “privilege time” on a Friday afternoon.”
“Almost the entire school frequently now bikes to school in the summer,” she says. “We needed to get new bike stands to accommodate all the bikes.”
Use of the track during school time is seen as a reward for good work in the classroom.
More and more children are riding their bikes to school rather than being dropped off by car so they can ride on the track before and after school and at lunch times.
